With stringent and devastating rollbacks affecting the SRHR movement globally, the need for collective action and resistance is at an all time high. At present, WGNRR does not receive financial support or funding for our global reproductive justice campaigning. In order to continue our global campaigning, we need your support!
WGNRR welcomes the focus of the Commission of the Status of Women on gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls. In particular, we would like to draw the Commission’s attention to fulfilling the sexual and reproductive health and rights of rural women and girls, as a crucial component of realizing their rights, and in turn their empowerment and wellbeing.
The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Dr. Natalia Kanem born in Panama as the Fund’s fifth Executive Director. She will succeed Dr. Babatunde whom we mourn and honor as the strong and invaluable ally in advocating for women and girls’ health and rights, including their sexual and reproductive health and rights.
The Philippines should allow abortion in certain cases, said a spokesperson of the Philippine Safe Abortion Advocacy Network (Pinsan) at the UN. The Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) is excited to announce the addition of Yvette Kathurima to the WGNRR Board, who brings with her many years of SRHR expertise and feminist activism. The WGNRR Board provides leadership and financial oversight of WGNRR’s vision and mission towards the full realisation of the sexual and reproductive health and rights of all people.
